Abstract

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of clinical performance ability and clinical practice satisfaction on nursing professional self-concept of junior nursing students.

Methods : Participants in this study were 162 junior nursing students and data were collected using structured questionnaires. The students had completed 2semesters of clinical practice. The data were analyzed using SAS 9.3 statistical program, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Multiple Regression.

Results : Clinical performance ability(¥â£½.471, p£¼.001) and clinical practice satisfaction(¥â£½.369, p£¼.001) showed significant positive correlation with nursing professional self-concept. And, clinical performance ability was the biggest prediction factor influencing nursing professional self-concept.

Conclusion : In order to improve the nursing professional self-concept of nursing students, it is necessary to develop an intervention program and apply it to improve clinical performance ability.
